Transmission seal

I have a leaking transmission seal on my 2009 LT where the CV axle connects to the transmission. I called a shop to have it replaced and was quoted $600-700.00 This seems high from what I've learned about this repair. As I was driving the car yesterday the engine stumbled a little then drove normally and shifted just fine.

Could the transmission cause the engine to stumble if the fluid was too low? The engine has never stumbled before.

It will stumble if the transmission fluid is low. Replacing the seal is easy if your handy , I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago , takes about 45 minutes a side

Does it require special tools?

A 30 mm deep socket for the cv axle
an 18 mm deep socket for the strut fasteners
a pry bar to pop the cv axle out
a flat screwdriver to pry the outer axle seal out
needle nose vide grips to remove the inner seal
there a how to in our how to section and videos on YouTube
