Transmission won't go into forward gear
That mechanic is a fraud. If you now have forward and reverse he probably disturbed some wires and/or blew a fuse. If not, then the fluid transfer pipe inside the transmission broke, the part is not very expensive the labor and fluid should be close to the same as a fluid change, just 4 more bolts.
8 quarts of trans fluid should have been pretty obvious on the ground under the car, that is the only place it could go.
TCM lost communication means a loose/disconnected/broken wire or a blown fuse. NOT new transmission or new TCM.
