Hi Cory, you could try a forum for the Traverse, like this one
Chevrolet Traverse Forum Homepage
We deal with the HHR here, and while many of the OBD codes are universal, the fixes are usually not.

Welcome to the site, the P0008 seems to possibly be a stretched timing chain

This was the first google result for ' traverse p0008 p0017 '
Timing chain discussion/CEL/P008 and P0017 - Page 2 - Chevy Traverse Forum: Chevrolet Traverse Forum

For some reason I could not copy the address from page 1, so this is for page 2. of 90 pages!!

Though unlikely, you may still have factory coverage for this. For example 2009's even had extended coverage beyond the 100k. Not a bad idea to check with the dealer AND if you have any service contracts. I get LOT of people that think they have coverage and do not but also a lot that think they have none but DO.
