turn signal not working
turn signal not working
I went to turn right this morning and the turn signal indicator on the dash-board was clicking at double-speed. I checked the blinkers themselves and the front-passenger one is no longer functioning.
It seems obvious that I need to change the bulb, right? So I searched the forums for a guide but one of the threads (about headlights) that said the fuse might be blown.
Is this possible for turn-signals too? Would only one bulb stop working in the event of a fuse problem?
I really don't want to risk stripping those fasteners if I can just pop a fuse... but I looked in the manual and I didn't see what fuse it might be.
Any advice will be gratefully received - I'm a car maintenance novice but my 2006 HHR is way out of warranty :-)

Good morning and welcome to the forum! Not a fuse issue I'm afraid, just a plain old blown bulb. The push pins that hold the fender liner in are pretty robust and can withstand being pulled and reinstalled without breaking, but if you do break one they are super cheap.
Here's a thread on changing headlight bulbs, but its also good as a guide to getting to the rest of the front bulbs too. Good luck and take your time, the first time you have to get to the front bulbs is the worst, but don't be intimidated.

That's what we're here for, never hesitate to ask a question, chances are somebody has "been there, done that" before. When you get a chance drop a post in the Introductions section and tell us about yourself and your HHR.
I just wanted to say that I got around to changing the bulb this weekend and the process was a lot less painful that I was expecting. I did have to turn the wheel to get more space behind the liner but the whole thing took no more than 15 minutes. (And total cost was ~$8 for two bulbs)
Thanks to everyone (on this thread and the others) for their insight.
