USB issue
works with a 1 gig card and not a 2 gig.
Everything else either fails or will only play one folder, not allowing me
to switch back and forth.
I'm blaming my kharma.

Update. The dealer changed the radio and guess what? None of my flashes worked! I knew that would happen. Engineering says its a compatiblility issue....yet they work in the other Chevys that they have there......so I dont see a compatibility issue. The GM engineering guys even told the tech to delete my files and just add 1 WMA file and play it......that didnt work. So now they dont know. And now I am even more annoyed. GM claims they have no complaints about USB issues.......Can I be the only one who took my car back to the dealer?
I see your vehicle is a 2009 SS. I have 2009 LS with the Base radio. I'm sure since you have an SS with the USB our radios are not the same.
Why did I just state all that? For at least the Base radio in the 2009 they changed manufactures in 2009 to Delphi from Panasonic. I maybe wrong about the "Panasonic", but they did change manufactures. Some features were dropped when Delphi took over with the Base radio. This maybe the same for the upgraded radios in 2009.
Who is your radio made by? Perhaps they had a mid year manufacture change and all the problems are not documented.
I know you are just complaining and very frustrated, but this may be a clue to your/GM problems.

I just picked up the car. This is a second design radio and I do think it is made by Panasonic. The engineer asked the tech if I download music legally or illegally as some downloaded mp3 files are not always mp3(even if they say it) and the radio wont recognize them. My flash drives have a mix of ripped mp3 off my cd's as well as downloaded tunes. So they erased my files and put just 2 WMA files on it to see if it would work......well......it didnt. So now the tech, the engineer and me dont have any clue.As I have said, these flashes work in the 09 Malibu and 2010 Camaro that they have there.Yes,they are different radios. What annoys me is the PYN ATTACHE 8gb and the SANDISK CRUZER 8GB are working in other users(on here) HHR's.I'm getting tired of hearing myself about it...lol.....but I did pay for this radio and it is a new car so it should work the way I expect something new to work. I have over 1000 songs on this flash..they suggested maybe using a converter to make sure they are mp3 format. That would take a ridiculously long time and not even sure if it will work.
Maybe you should just try a couple, or at least less than 100, to see if it works... you may also want to check to see if there are any 'hidden' files on your flash, you can go in windows under windows explorer - tools-folder options- View - show hidden files folders.
gmdealerguy, lets try this. Let me send you one of my drives that works on my car. Pop it in yours and see if it works. Toss me a pm with a good address and I'll put it in the mail. That will be the ultimate test. Just don't bash me for my taste in music!

I know this is an older thread, but since I just went through some pain myself, here are some notes that may help others:
2 GB Sandisk Cruzer Titanium: FAT format, with U3 - Works
16 GB Sandisk Cruzer, FAT32 format, with and without U3 - Doesn't work
64 GB Kingston DataTraveler 150, FAT32 format - Works.
