Wants to Grind Gears Going from 2nd to 3rd- 5 speed
X 2, I'd rather have the problem fixed correctly the first time, rather than meet the staff..
[QUOTE=ret;493490]My 06 standard will grind occasionally. You have found the solution, take it easy on shift, double clutch, hesitate before changing into 3rd. All of these eliminate the grind. I think it's just the way things are for this car.

I don't think this is normal. My 2007 five speed never grinds, regardless of how I shift it. Have had this car since new in March of 07, and have yet to hear any gear noise, ever! I would guess, and this is only a guess, is the problem is a worn and or weak syncro, but based on my experience it should not 'grind' even on a fast shift.

I too am thinking something is foul in the trans. I have to figure out when I am going to take it back up there. I've driven 5 speeds of many makes and types for over 20 years and never had one grind. At least I feel like they will be willing to work with me to get this issue solved.
I agree, your problem is sounding more and more like an internal transmission problem. I can shift from first to third with no problem, so again I'm pretty sure you have a syncro issue. Let us know what the problem ultimately turns out to be.
