Warped rotor..

This past weekend while driving at 80 mph and going down hill I pressed on the brakes and the car shuddered and brakes chattered.

Sounds like a warped rotor to me. Is this covered under warranty?

It's a common problem with the HHR and many other GM vehicles.

Myself and many others here have had the rotors turned under warranty.

from one newb to the club to another.....WELCOME!!!

yea there is alot of posts about the rotor issue...seems like it's really not with everyone, but yet there's alot of that going on. when i first got ours back in late july. we noticed the same thing. took it in for an air bag issue and had them check the rotors, found nothing. to this day, really haven't felt it too bad.

No issues with mine. We also have about 500 Malibu's/Classics from about 2004 up. The only agency I have problems with warping rotors is US Probations. Cops I could understand, but Probation?

Sorry to say, but your driving is probably the main culprit. People are just hard on brakes these days.

I also notice that if it is under warranty, the dealership will turn. If it is out of warranty, "oh, those can't be turned". Each and every time.

Thats when you bring it to a local shop and have it done right for a lot less $$ or better yet do it yourself...from what I can gather replacing the rotors on the HHR is pretty straight forward
