Warranty rant....is this covered?
Warranty rant....is this covered?
Bought my first new car last August, 2010 HHR.
All was well until about August of 2011. Three problems arose:
1. Clunking in the RR wheel upon deceleration, 15-0MPH.
2. Lose part rattle sound in the headliner, right above the rear passenger's head.
3. Squeaking in column when at very low speed, going lock to lock.
I bought the car to my local dealer, not the place where I purchased the car. They are 50 miles away. The car has 16,900 miles on it.
Dealer originally said all of these complaints were covered. Then, after having car for two days, says they are not covered...and all three items needed to be handled in the 12mo/12,000 range under the squeak and rattle category.
I went to dealer, obviously upset after not having a car for two days and being told one thing when I dropped it off, and getting the call days later saying they were not. Manager said I would be better off taking to original dealership and they might make good on the claims. Also, when I got there, apparently the tech had cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes and lubed the shaft..so those problems were fixed..but in reality, they are self adjusting...so my arguement is that something mechanical was improperly working in order for that to happen. Manager said his tech wasn't getting paid for the two hours he spent on the car. Tech said, and wrote down that he hears the roof rattle...but manager won't let him work on it.
Final words from manager was that "I got him for three hours labor that he was never going to make back." My parting words were...I'm never coming back here again and that if a rattle of a loose part isn't covered, I'll never buy a GM vehicle again.
I cut out about 2 hours of bickering in person and on the phone....but....am I out of line here or missing something?

What happened to the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty ? This ALL should be covered. IMO..
& as far as the tech adjusting the rear brakes & no cost.. Be grateful, since the self adjusters are not always self adjusting properly..
Look in the back of your owners manual, for where to file a complaint. & do it..
Obviously this place does not want your warranty work, than GM pays them for.

I have a 2008 HHR LT fully loaded with the sport tuned supension.
That's where Im at with Gm as well
My first and last GM car is this HHR, that's already decided. Yes'd to death at the Dealer. Showed them the solution to take care of my trans problem and got the same BS, NO CODE, NO reason to scan.
I have to go back for the remotes, $100.00 deductible and these are the second set Ive had to replace. Im not doing this again with another GM car that's for sure. The Dealer's are all very nice, they just wont help me. I get the same thing " Maybe take it back to where you bought it?" That Dealer is no longer in business, besides I would think having my car repaired locally in town makes some sense, doesnt it?
NO MORE GM, NO MORE GM! lol - for you Diehards? Dont bother, it's no big deal and Im happy you love your HHRs! They are Cool Looking at the very least.

You need to get Chevy Customer Service involved. See post #4 above.
Just because you have a db dealer doesn't mean that any of that is an official GM position. Based on what you've said so far, they don't have a choice but to honor your warranty. Those kinds of things are under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, and there should be no questions.

I'm not sure I like that comment...(note my screen name)..but seriously I've had bad and or questionable dealings with most every manufacturer whose vehicles I've owned. That doesn't reflect their overall policy. I've had a Ford dealer, a Nissan dealer and a Toyota dealer tell me some version of
"Maybe take it back to where you bought it?" I each case, I called the appropriate executive office and ended up getting satisfaction. Oddly enough, I've never heard this from a GM dealer.
