Water leak

My wife and I are in the middle of, yet another, cross country trip in our HHR. A couple days ago I noticed that it had a pool of water sitting under it after it had been parked for a couple hours. It didn't smell like antifreeze and it was clear, so I hoped it was just a fluke and had thought it could be water draining from the wiper cowl or sunroof. Well, last night while I was driving, a couple of drops of water dripped down from behind the dashboard onto my wife's feet. This got me worrying about the possibility of a bad heater core. Again, the water didn't smell of antifreeze. I'm not sure if this is likely the cause of a clogged drain, we have driven through a lot of rain, or if its a leaking heater core/hose and maybe the previous owner filled the system with water instead of antifreeze.

Pull the Cowl, there should be NO Butyl patch as mid year 2007 and newer basically has a drip rail and in the corner of eachside is a drain, it maybe clogged. If you pull the cowl you will stare directly at the cabin filter. Check to see if thats wet.

I would start there.

Pull the radiator cap to see if it is just water, i would doubt it but you never know.

This time of year, I will assume you're using the AC. So, if it's clear water you're seeing, I would think it's AC condensation water that is not draining correctly.
The water could be backing up in the evaporator core box under the dash. The collection of water will cause the box to sweat and drip, or even leak out the box if it's really clogged and filled up.
I would suggest checking the AC drain line to see if it's clogged. Also, pull back the carpet on the passenger side and check for wetness. A few drops may have hit your wifes feet, but I bet more of them dropped elsewhere.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check both suggested areas when we get home in a few hours. Where is the a/c drain line located, or will it be obvious when I look under the hood?

There is a pic on this site that shows it, try googling. I know the port for the Moonroof come out in the door jamb and I think Ac runs down to the rocker.

Here's the thread on the condensate drain, and its location.
