Weird idling problems

Hi all, first time poster, long time lurker. I have an issue that just started popping up today where at idle,(either at stop light or with the car in park) the engine seems like it's bucking back and forth and rpm's seem to fluctuate maybe 700-1k rpm. On the highway it seems like it has no power. I'll be going 60 mph and the rpms seem to be high at 2.5 where it normally is around 2k. I started the car back up and it gave a weird shaking start but after that seems to be ok idling. I'm not sure if this is the beginning of something to come. I would like to see if anyone has any input on this since my warranty is about to end and would like to see if there is a trend with other people out there. TIA

Since your warranty is about to end, run it into your dealer. I don't remember any threads along this line, other than for the 2.0 turbo.

Including details such as year/engine, and CEL codes (if lit) would help when digging for info.

haven't been able to pull the codes off, but no lights lit up when i was driving it this morning. It's just one of those things i hate taking it to the dealer when it seems to be fine. Has anyone been charged by the dealer for just bringing in their ride and they don't find anything wrong with it?

Head to an auto parts store like NAPA, Advance, Autozone, etc. They'll pull your codes for free, then post 'em up here so we can help you figure it out. From the sounds of it, you might have a dirty throttle body, but knowing the codes(if any)would be a huge help.

well i think i might have resolved the issue. I tossed in a can of sea foam and put some new gas and seems to be running better. I'm guessing maybe there was moisture in the tank causing the erratic issue.

Keep us posted on how things go, What year and model do you own?

sounds like you got a little moisture in the fuel lines, do you always fill the tank up or partial fills. Try some gas line anti-freeze if it happens again.
