Hazard Switch

Hazard Switch
My hazard lights are on and I can't get them to go off.
I just installed a factory fog light switch in the dash, unhooked all components and drilled hole for new switch. Upon reinstalling, when I connected the hazard switch, they popped on and will not go off. I've taken apart the switch to see if I could find anything wrong. While I was drilling I did have the panel face down on my wooden workbench, so I may have damaged it. I have a new switch on order, it's Sunday and the chevy parts dept isn't open, and neither Napa nor Carquest have the switch in stock.
I have removed the fuse and the relay, 68 and 69 in the engine compartment fuse box, hoping the hazards might turn off, but they didn't. Does anyone have a thought as to how I might get the switch to tell the BCM to turn off the hazards while I wait for the new one. I have an extra vehicle, but I'm going to be dropping this off tomorrow for bodywork.
Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

Just a guess here. Cut the ground wire at the hazard switch. Leave enough wire on each side to splice it back with a connector when you get the new switch.
It should be a black/white stripe wire.
If you try this, check the remaining lights for operation since I'm not sure exactly what else that ground wire could effect.
Like I said. Just a suggestion or guess since pulling fuses and relays didn't work.

Before doing any wire splicing, be sure to confirm you didn't accidentally swap the hazard switch with the traction(?) switch. One is dark grey & the other is light grey. Both switches are the same size but the color should match the color of the receptacle. Fwiw, & Fyi, I ran into this when putting my dash back together and realized I accidentally swapped them.

'Hmm, I'm pretty sure I manipulated all the switches to troubleshoot, but I will double check when I get home. Also, I'm not splicing, I have the factory fog light wiring behind the dash. Hopefully I'll feel really stupid later this evening when this simple fix works.

FMG, no you were correct. PSICloned, you are also correct. I had the wrong plugs together. I didn't realize that the plug and the socket were color matched. I now don't see how I overlooked that, and why the hazards didn't go off with the press of the traction control button. Thanks for the tip
