Whirring sound at startup?

Whirring sound at startup?
Does anyone have a whirring kind of electronic sounding noise when they first start the car and drive? Hubby thinks it sounds like power steering pumps when they go bad, if that helps. Anyways, the car does it until it's been driven a few miles or gets warmed up, then it goes away. I didn't notice it until a week ago, probably because I was using auto start every time I drove it when it was cold, so it was already warmed up when I got in. Not sure if it's a problem, just wondered if it's a common sound.

I have a 2007 LS and mine does the same thing. I did not notice it until it got cold outside late last Fall. Now that the weather is warming up, it occurs less frequently and goes away sooner. Sounds like a bearing in either the alternator or a/c compressor. I hope whatever it is breaks before the warranty expires!

Could be the engine? (just kidding) 
Not sure this is the same but I have noticed a whirring sound when I shut the car off (with the radio off) and the sound only goes away when I open the door, so it’s on the same circuit as the radio shut off. (CD drive / stereo cooling fan?)

Ours makes a whining noise too for the first few minutes. It's not that bothersome and it's gone in a mile or so of driving. If that's the worst problem we have I'll be happy! And we've been happy for over 2 1/2 years with our HHR now!
