Whrrrrrring noise when A/C compressor running

Does anyone else get a distinct "whrrrrrrrrrr" moaning sound when accelerating when the A/C is on? I'm 99% sure its the compressor. It just started doing it last week. Air blows cold though.

I do, and so did/do a number of folks. There is a TSB on it and Chevy will repair it I'm told. Mine just started whirring yesterday after about 27K miloes on an '06. I'll be calling Chevy tomorrow. You may wish to do the same. Good luck, we both need it.

I had a "growling" noise last year. They replaced the A/C lines as described in a TSB. No problems since.

Yeah, that pretty much seems to describe it, the info in that thread. With mine being a 2007 though, I wouldn't have expected it to exhibit this issue.

I'm going to keep an eye on it. Just like in that thread, I think it has become noticebale due to last week and this week are the hottest its been around here yet. Hit 100 deg last week with plenty of midwest humidity.

It does also *seem* to feel like it causes more parasitic drag on the engine than the A/C normally causes, when it does this growling or whirrrrring.

I took mine in a while back for the same thing and they did as the TSB indicated. No problems since then.

Just got back from the dealer. They said "No Problem, you need the hoses, etc".
They ordered the parts. Will have to make another appointment for the replacement.

Plus the plastic seatbelt stop had broken on the drivers seatbelt. That is the silly little piece that keeps the male end from dropping to the floor..
So while they were looking at the seatbelt they found the retractor was going bad, so they ordered a whole new unit.
I kind of like them. Not bad for a dealer. We'll see how they are when I go out of warranty.........
