HHR vs. '96 Civic

This happened a few weeks ago here in Enid, OK.
My HHR - 2007 2LT, automatic, all stock except windows tinted (and now underbody lights).
The Civic - I'm guessing about a '96 or '97, body kit, rear spoiler, lowered, and some sort of crappy exhaust on it. But all the mods on this appeared mostly for cosmetic style.

We didn't start racing off a line, he just decided to accelerate quickly going up an overpass. So I follow lead and drive beside him half way up the overpass and then I floor it. He does the same and I pull away slowly but surely. We keep going after we get over the overpass on a straight, level road. I was still smoking him.

I don't think I could have beat him off the line, but if you're already running, HHR can be pretty fast. I was very proud of my car that night.

Dude, I obviously like the HHR as well as anyone as I just traded my '05 Civic for a 2LT a couple of weeks ago. But, bragging about beating a Civic is like bragging that your 10 speed "whooped" a tricycle. The Civic is 115 hp and is geared for racing turtles at best. lol

Wow the civic's have 115 HP? our HHR's have 172 HP for a total of 57 more HP.... just imagine if we had the SS with 260 HP.... OWNED!

lol..i know what your talking about! my younger brother had 98 civic coupe and he had like e/h/i no bodykit but it was auto. we went out fishing one day and coming back we decide to have alittle fun so we decide to race. i clearly beat him even though his car was lighter. i bet it was funny to see his face huh! classic moment!
