I Have to Admit I am NOT faster than a redneck

At the Syracuse Nationals this year
a few of the guys from one of my favorite show RU faster than a redneck came up and put on an autocross event.
after seeing the big dollar cars purpose built for this and then
a couple of srt challengers and Mustang shelby gt and even a subaru with slicks on all 4 corners
I figured this looks like fun

I only got three tries but it was a blast and I was amazed at how quickly the boost came up on my car out of each turn and was also shocked that I could not go over 1/4 throttle without the cars tires breaking free on the small straights a few guys came over and said what the heck did you do to this this thing is fast.
anyhow in the back of my mind i have been thinking what if I got a new mustang somehow if dont figure out these issues with mine which I think I am on the road to recovery with
the fastest time I believe was 28.? challengers and mustang shelby went anywhere from high 33's to 35 seconds
my first run was 35.8 and last was a 34 flat
it was a blast.and really seemed to put less abuse on the car than driving around town.
I think I need some tips from Moon on this type of racing he would have really shown these guys up
btw the redneck guy from the show (who was also a great announcer) ran a 30.00 in the car in the picture

Practice makes fast!! and tires, springs, sway bar set up, weight transfer and the list goes on, the major point would be did you have fun? if yes the mission accomplished!!

That must have been a blast.

I did have fun and it was nice to know that the ss could hold its own against the challengers and mustangs at least the ones that where there and stock
still amazed at how much wheel spin I was getting.

Sounds like it was a blast, and you upheld the honor of HHR's everywhere.

You may not be faster than a redneck, but you are smarter than a fifth grader.;)

Next time you need to take your Studebaker, show 'em what some South Bend iron can do.

I've always been impressed with the wheel spin to. I don't even have the turbo upgrade either.

It would have been funny to see the Studebaker
Going around the turns with a spool (locked rear end) with 32" tall x18" wide tires on the back an 26" x 5" in the front lol

It would be spectacular to see the Studie auto-crossed, we'd have to take up a collection to replace your tires, but it would be spectacular.

Plus, using a vehicle for something it's never intended to do, is one of the tenants of being a card carrying redneck.

I think someone put drag-bags on the back of his SS for added grip while dragging.. Now, I recently had my front springs swapped from FE1 to Cobalt SS springs. Dropped my nose a good bit, and I guess the rear springs wouldn't quite fit, so I said to hell with it. Now it's got a nasty nose grinding look that I dig, and I don't get a lot of wheel spin on my 2.2.. Hope this helps.

How did you get a picture of my lawn tractor lol
My stude had an airbag on the right rear at 60 psi still would not keep car from leaning
Looked like the farm truck leaving lol
No airbags in my ss
Lots of fun though to drive through the cones.
The stude would have been great on the straights lol
