After every run that I make, there is always someone that will come up to me, & ask questions, about it. Both young guys, & old time racers.

Some ask how did I get a V8 into it.
Some ask what is it, what's in it, & why is it so quiet.
Some don't really know what an HHR is ?
Most don't know that you can get a turbo from the factory, in an HHR, & once
some of them here the word 'turbo', they understand.
One racer, wants to put an HHR body onto a 'tube' frame chassis, with V8 power, & thought that I had done that already.
It's really quiet, going down the track, some guys even think, that I have an
electric motor assisted, setup, in it...

A few racers that I talked to, say that the stock turbo, is what's keeping the automatic alive.
They say that a bigger turbo like the ZFR, wil push the stock automatic clutch packs, to failure.
So, before I install a ZFR, I'm going with a stronger automatic, one with a better ratio than the stock 3.29,
a 3.73 ratio looks ideal...:thumb:

bigger turbo and 3.73 gears now your talking 11's

Was at the track Friday. 13.98@103. Same factory tires. Think I can get my 60' down with a new tire.

Almost had my 13.99 Saturday I ran a 14.14 :Dhad to ease into it and instill spun off the line, the track conditions where
Horrible. The worst I have seen in years.that of course did not work too well with a wrong wheel drive lol but they do not prep well on test n tune days.
I was happy with the number considering it's just stock with the gmtu.
Boy does this car need an hptune when it's out of warranty. And a set of slicks or at least a good track.

2005HHRauto Oct 17, 2012 08:08 PM

Slicks, with a 'boosted' launch, priceless...:twothumbs:

2005HHRauto Oct 20, 2012 12:29 PM

At the track today.

1st run 12.69 @ 111.41. DA - 1,500 ft
Bad track prep today, spun off the line.

2nd run 12.58 @ 111.44. DA the same at 1,500 ft
Still spinning a little of the line.

I'm trying a different Downpipe today, @ I think that I'm
getting into a lot more boost off the line as this DP flows better.
That, or track prep, track is cold, it's 50 degrees air temp now.
I'm going to lower the air pressure in the slicks for my next run.

rain, rain, rain out...:yuck:

What Down Pipe did you try this time? And I'm sure I'm not the only one that thanks you for your testing and sharing the information with everyone.

Still getting faster, even if its only a few hundredths.....
Another personal best.
8.70 at 86.3 for the 1/8

It was another bounty race weekend. Only car in the eights. All others 5,6,7 second cars. Ran a new Camaro ss he got me by a whole second. Not too bad for a four banger vs v8
