UNBELIEVABLE kills tonight. Thanks ADM.
UNBELIEVABLE kills tonight. Thanks ADM.
I installed my Aeroforce gauge and my ADM Stage II tune, and after I tuned it I knew I had something special.
On the test run, I ran a sportbike from a very high roll and walked him. I'm pretty sure it was a 600, but I'm not sure if it was one of the lesser models because I didn't get a good look. I was too excited when I saw him fall into the red glare of my tail lights. He may have chickened out too as speeds climbed, but a win is a win. Note that I did run a piped 600 later in the night at the same speeds, and he walked me.
After that, I decided to go to a local meet for a "cruise" that turned into so much more. There were 20-30 F-bodies, Mustangs, Goats, Corvettes, and my little HHR. They wouldn't even let me in their line to pull out of the parking lot when we left. When everything opened up, we got well into triple digit speeds, and when we got to our destination, 2/3 of the cars were left behind.
"Who has that little purple thing."
"Me."
"Holy $h1t that little )#%U#$ is quick!"
There were a few grocery jokes, but I was even asked what size V8 it had under the hood. Everyone wanted details and to know how much work I had done to it, and everyone gave props.
Needless to say, on the way back the attitude was completely different.
Then, later in the night there were several callout runs between a stroker GTO and a heavily modified STI. Four cars followed; a C5 Corvette tuned for nitrous with an empty bottle, a 512 hp 6.0 GTO, a 5.7 GTO with a "small cam," and me.
We all went at once on a one way two lane with the perceived fastest cars in the front. I was in the back. Each run the faster cars moved to the front and the slower ones fell back. The STI and the stroker were the fastest always, but at the end I smoked both the cammed 5.7 GTO and the C5. The 6.0 was faster, but I got the jump on him until I shifted into third and he started pulling.
No one wanted to talk about the main race with the STI. They wanted to see under the hood of the HHR. In fact, they talked about it for an hour after I parked it for the night.
What a night!
Thanks ADM!

Cool but I have a question about the 600. Not knowing the rider, I would say that mod was needed. It could have been a Ninja 250? But anything can happen in a race. If you did mad props. Not trying to be a meany.
It's cool man. I honestly think the driver chickened out and let up. Either way, a kill is a kill. I'm sure it was something bigger than a 250, but it may have been a YZF600R or a Katana as opposed to an R6 or a Ninja. Trust me, I was just as surprised as you are. If I didn't have a buddy with me to say it happened, I would never have told anyone the story because noone would believe me.
Triple digits on a public road. Totally stupid. Why is it when some people get in a car they lose all sensibility and intelligence? You can only hope when a race goes bad it's only the racers who eat the tree and not any innocents.
Aaron, nice kills man, and congrats at proving yourself amongst some real beastly cars. i love surprising people in my SS too, though with your tune puts you at a much more surprising position than me.
okay, dude, seriously. we know there are a ton of risks in these kinds of things. we get it. that will never stop people from doing it. ever. we don't need this exact same post in every thread talking about a street race. i don't street race, just because i would prefer not endanger myself, my car, or other people on the road, just as i would prefer not get a ticket. i keep to about 5-10 mph above the speed limit. but just because i don't agree with it, you don't see me preaching in EVERY thread about why it's a dumb idea. everyone knows, and some make the choice to do it anyway. they are still entertaining to read. if you don't like it, simply don't read the threads. it is that simple really.

You would get me 60-0. :P
Go look up what causes more accidents/deaths, street racing, or talking on your cell phone. If you can tell me you never talk on your cell phone while you drive, then I MIGHT hear what you have to say about racing. To me you just sound like another bleating sheep who watches sensationalized news stories too much.
Think about that next time you decide to "lose all sensibility and intelligence" and pick up the phone. "You can only hope when a" conversation "goes bad it's only the" cell phone users "who eat the tree and not any innocents." Cell phone usage "on a public road. Totally stupid."
If you want to go preach to some dumb sixteen year old who does this during rush hour on tree-lined residential streets, go ahead. I'm not that kid. If it makes you feel any better, all of this happened in the wee hours of the morning when most "innocents" were fast asleep. There was no traffic, no trees, and no sidestreets. In fact, it was all in a one-way environment lined with guardrails. If you ever go to the track, you'll find that it looks much the same way.
