Doing 250 + MPH
May soon be topped by this (273MPH Claim):

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. — Little-known U.S. supercar maker SSC is aiming to put its name in lights with a crack at the top speed record for road-legal production cars. The title is currently held by the Bugatti EB Veyron 16.4 at an independently verified 253 mph.
The company behind the Ultimate Aero is planning to close down a 12-mile stretch of Nevada's Highway 93 on March 21 for the first run at the Veyron's record. SSC's weapon of choice is a specially prepared version of the Ultimate Aero prepared by MKM Racing. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.3-liter V8 that can reportedly put out a staggering 1,183 horsepower along with 1,094 pound-feet of torque.
The low-slung two-seater has already been tested at NASA's wind tunnel in Langley, Virginia, where it is claimed to have shown the potential for a top speed of 273 mph. However, it remains to be seen whether it can achieve that figure on the road. Existing performance claims for the Ultimate Aero put its 0-60-mph time at 2.78 seconds and 0-100-mph time at just 11.66 seconds. Its standing-quarter-mile time is put at 9.90 seconds with a terminal speed of 144 mph.

It doesn't matter; SSC's and the Barabus TKR will always pale in comparison, Mainly for the fact that The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 skyrockets above the rest in terms of build quality, That includes the body, INTERIOR, And engine. The SSC is a redesigned McLaren F1 at heart, And the Barabus TKR is a Saleen S7 rip. W/ crappy plastic bodies. No interior in either car would ever look worthy to the Bugatti. For the money, The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is actually a better deal. But when you're looking for the fastest cars in the world, You tend to NOT CARE about money. Only Quality and speed, Unless you're one of those "I'M TOO SEXY" types... When only hypercars will do.
If you look at the larger pictures of that SSC car the headlights look like modified Focus SVT HID headlamps... No kidding. Check it out! Look at google images and look up Fovus SVT and get a nice image of the headlight then check out some pics of the SSC's headlamps. Coincidence? I think NOT!
EDIT::: Never mind. Here's the pics! Just found it odd! I pay WAY too much attention to cars. I think this qualifies me as a car nut!
FOCUS

SSC

EDIT2::: Ok wait, Now I'm seeing more and more in this car from others. The interior shots look like a re-vamped FIERO interior. Check the center console where it rises between the seat. Or the door jambs and how high the door sills are compared to the floor and driver's seat! Oh and these shots are on the SSC website. Ok so I'm a little tired now and going to sleep before I start noticing more than that. OH YEAH! For those that don't know the SSC stands for "Shelby Super Cars"

This speed attempt on the Nevada highway, sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
The course in Germany appeared to be smooth as glass, if the roads in Nevada are anything like the ones in Ill., Film at 11 (pm news...)

For the SCC
From sportscarcup.com .....the Ultimate Aero is projected to reach a price closer to $650,000.
For the Bugatti
FromCNN ....Each Bugatti Veyron 16.4 will cost an estimated $1.24 million.

BTW, The Clip w/ the Bugatti Veyron was shot for my alltime fave British show, Top Gear. The dude's name is James May, AKA Captain Slow.
(lol, captain slow...)
Another BTW: Each Bugatti Veyron is costing Volkswagen AG 6 MILLION dollars. That's a net loss of 5 million a car, Roughly. Volkswagen AG has said that all future Bugattis must be profitable. Truth be told, The Veyron was done as an experiment just to see if such nuts speeds could be attained in a road car.
With a production of just 60 cars, They're never going to see that money again.

Hey BB....
Just to let you know....
The section of highway mentioned is notorious for speeding. It is used by many manufacturers (as well as individuals, illegally) to test their vehicles speed. At one time, not to long ago, this piece of highway had "NO Speed Limit-Drive At Your Own Risk" posted.
In fact, this is the section that caused Chevrolet Division to reassess the Corvette's King of the Road cooling and status. Owners would drive this section and attempt to obtain the stated top speed of 175 MPH (?), also illiegal at that time, and would notice the engine temperature climb. Some redesign and Mobile 1 was the outcome.
Just trivia, but thought it was interesting.
Also, isn't the SCC, in a smaller version, the vehicle that Spielburg or Lucas just purchased???
