20" Tires

Hello all...
Newbie to HHR forums...

Picking up my 07 HHR Panel LT2 Saturday so I'm ready to MOD!!

Going to need new shoes because I just can't roll on stock wheels/tires. The question is how BIG of tires has anyone shoved under with no problems? A 225/30/20 is the suggested (Tire Rack) replacement but I'm not one for the rubber band on a wheel look, not to mention the ride will stink.

I don't think a 225/35/20 will give any problems due to the >3% variance plus there is plenty of fender well opening...

Now the kicker, I WANT to put 245/35/20 on...any comments or sucess stories or failures?

Vinny from a fellow Ohioan! That seems like alot of tire for the HHRs stock suspension. Haven't heard of anyone going wider than 225mm, but maybe it'll take it without mods. Good luck & let us know!

I have this thing about jamming as big of rubber as I can under cars....

Had two MINI coopers rolling on 20s and a CR-V currently on 19s with fenderwells FULL! CR-V went one size too big so no fatties in the back (I'm 270 - 6'3" so I'm in the front).

I just hate the wheel whell gap look

Ah yes the cold and snow of Ohio, much time to dream of our cars being clean and getting the summer rims/tires out. Will definately go to the meet, already shopping for stuff to mod this ride out!

I remember seeing a converion HHR at a local dealer that had 245/40R18's on it. The width went just a little past the fenderlip.

With my local roads, it would be rim suicide to run a 30 or 35 series tire.

I guess you've never been to Ohio, welcome to the pothole capital!

Yep, it's stupid to run low profile tires, yep, if you're not careful you'll bend a rim/ruin a tire...
But the look so coooool.... I suffer so my vehicle looks good (and drive very very careful)
I just personally hate the huge gap betweent the tire and fender. I'd rather go taller than wider, that's why the 235/35/20 was an option also.
