Well somebody used the wrong oil , or never changed it!
That’s gonna take a few Seafoam treatments to clean that up!
That sludge with plug up the new Solenoids

 

That one is so badly sludged up that you shouldn't try to clean it. If you break loose those hard deposits and don't remove ALL of them, it only takes 1 small piece of sludge debris to plug something up.
Sad that the previous owner abused it.

 

Everything I could clean by taking it apart is clean now, so now a few treatments and wait for the new parts.

 

I agree FMG, that kinda mess would warrant a tear down an dip in the hot tank at my engine builders shop, he has a great set up, unlike this one!
