I might thank him.
He said I could use his zero turn mower. I told him to leave the key and some full gas cans. Yep, no key and less than a gallon of gas between the 2, 5 gal. cans.
Oh, and the belt on his mower is slipping so bad I can't use it anyway. Maybe that was his plan. Get me to fix his mower while he's gone.

All aside. I will thank him for his service.
(even though this is the same neighbor whose dog bit me 2 years ago. )

You use a zero turn mower to cut 5 acres of hay? What name/ model is the mower? I thought combines are used for that?
Educate me, I use a self propelled walk behind lawn mower to cut my 1/2 acre lawn.
Thanks

Here they use a bush hog followed by a hay rake then a baler then a bunch of youngsters on a truck, or a tractor with a roll picker.

Man, seeing that field of bales makes me shiver - I did a whole lot of that bale slinging stuff, summer after summer, in high school.

I gotta make another batch of Jalapeno Pepper Jelly - have just run out of the last batch. May try Serranos instead of Jalapenos - as they are a fair bit hotter. Gonna see what I can pickup at the store tonight.

Best batch last year was with Habanero peppers that a friend grows, but there are none available at this time.

My neighbor has a zero turn like the one pictured below. My comment about making "hay" was just a little sarcasm towards how much grass I'll have to cut until November. I do collect some of the dried grass (or hay) and use it to line my dog's house. Fill up my small trailer and change the dog's bedding about 5 times per load.
I personally use a Kubota B7200 tractor with a 4 ft deck. An old Sears rider. And I have 4 self propelled push mowers.

You know FMG "Some days you be the bug, other days you be the windshield".
Thanks for clearing the "hay" thing up.

What's funny is down here you need 3 acres if you have septic. If you let it grow there are people that will pay you for the privilege of mowing and baling and hauling away. Same for smallish wooded lots, even if it is just pine but we got lots of oak and hickory.
