i agree completely.
I also feel tat you should be voting on the background as well, since although it isn't part of the car, it is part of the feeling the driver wants to convey.
Would you like a car as much in a hotrod magazine if the photos were bad? Odd angles, bad backdrop, dirty, etc (not picking out anyone here, just making up reasons, i didn't even look at the submissions lately, i've been busy at work). Most likely the answer is no. The photographs are an extension of the car. A car in a random parking lot, on the beach, in the mountains, in a parking garage, in a warehouse, all have different feelings for them.
Plus for anyone who wants good photos, but can't take them yourself, do you know anyone who might be able to take photos for you? If anyone was in my area I would be happy to help out with photography, but alas i live in the middle of indiana... i do all of the photography for our design studio.

Why don't we quit worrying about why people vote and just leave this alone. A lot of bad feelings were generated last time a thread like this happened and it's just not healthy for the forum. I put these threads right up there with the political threads. They just aren't needed.
! My pic location was not the best choice but oh well, that's on me! Then I'm dissed for having a "Great Friend" that I met through this forum that stated she voted for our HHR because were from Oakland. Oh Well, that's her choice but I would like to think our friendship and my rides "Quality" also had a place in her decission
! I don't think the city of Oakland has ever won anything, "Way to Go Oakland". In closing congratulations once again to "ALL" HHR's that participated! Most of this experience was positive minus a few knuclehead comments

Funny this thread should be written. In the last 2 months I entered both this contest and the 'Family.net' one. Without sounding like I am bragging, I dont think anybody has done more modifications than I have. This is my daily drive, and many are for practical purposes, but many have involved total custom fabrication requiring a lot of thought in the planning process, and a lot of trial and error in seeing what works. Even something hardly noticible, like the custom bracket I made which relocates my front license plate under the bumper took a lot of time, cleans up the appearance, and keeps the plate safe from being hit by sloppy parkers. And forget about the work and time involved designing and building my subwoofer. Living in NYC, there is hardly anyplace to take nice photos without tons of people or buildings in the background, so I found the only place I could with trees and landscape-a cemetary.
In spite of this, I came in dead last in both contests. It did hurt me a little losing to vehicles that are nice but pretty much stock right off the showroom floor. Many even had the factory wheels. Yet, I take pride in my ride with the knowledge that when seen in person, it wins trophys and plaques at car shows and always gets a lot of attention where ever I drive.
I am not sure what makes people vote the way they do. It cant be for the sheer number of mods, so there must be other factors. Perhaps color of the car, or whatever. But the main thing is that we enjoy our unique vehicle and respect others opinions about the way they build theirs. Remember that the main purpose for this forum is not to argue or have bad feelings, but rather to help each other.

Who knows why people vote the way they do. I noticed black HHR's always seem to get a lot of votes
I have this type of problems at shows, been to about 8 this year, no trophies to show for it. The last show, I lost out to a bone stock 2007 Saturn Sky that had a computer tune.
