And I propose that posting in post padding threads should not count towards your post count! (say that 5x in a row)

Why would you not want to welcome new members . Who cares what your posts are or the count for that matter. Just have fun

Like how you were complaining I think it was last week about staying on topic because it's annoying to be looking for info in a thread and there are a few posts that stray off topic. It's the same thing when you are looking in a topic and a page or two in someone new posts then all of a sudden there are ten welcome posts with pics and .gifs and all. A lot of other boards have a specific welcome/intro section of their board because not everyone likes all the welcomes so the person can choose to make a intro post and if keeps all the crap out of other threads. I've adapted the quality over quantity motto myself also ng. Sometimes it ends up being stupidity and anger over quantity in my case though.

It would be nice if every new member would start with a new thread introducing themselves but that is not the case. I have yet to meet a new person that has posted that has not appreciated a friendly welcome. I guess we could all start posting "Hey dumbass, what took you so long to find the site ." Yes it can be aggrevating when you look up a subject on a post and everything in the post has nothing to do with the subject listed and I know I've been guilty of it too. Oh and remember quality is subjective . As I said before I could care less how many posts I have. Even if we didn't have a post counter I would still post Welcomes, Happy Birthday Announcements, play word games, etc.

I think we should. j/k Maybe a welcome/intro section of the site is something that should be added by JonyyB at this point with all of the welcomes in what now seems to be every single thread on the site. I've never been a fan of welcome/intro sections and never post in them when signing up to a site. To me it seems like the people that make intros in those sections are attention whores. I usually want my intro to be low key and I hate being welcomed to a site because it always creeps me out and usually scares me away from the site.

Since I've been a member a welome/intro/newbie section has been suggested several times with no results. the wheels of change move very slowly here! I don't see it as a big deal. For a few weeks I got caught up in being a post ho. I even started a couple word threads. I do try to welcome new people thought. I still think we should have a specific place to do that though. Most other forums I've been on have them. But then this isn't them. It is what it is.

That's for sure. It's not so much being welcomed that creeps me out but the whole transaction. I'm not the type to join a site and start a thread with a specific question or just sign up and post an intro. I'm more the type that sees a specific discussion that interest me of that I feel I can add useful info to so I sign up and post my thoughts. I expect to enter the discussion like any other member of the site. If all of a sudden someone pops up with "welcome to the site" or "I don't have an answer, any info, or any reason to be in this thread but welcome" I creeps me out and makes me think what the hell is wrong with this freak. I guess some people take it as what a friendly person or what a friendly site but not me; I think creepy freak.

Lately there appears to be a need for it though. We didn't really need one before because there wasn't 1000 welcomes in every thread on the site.
