XM question

ok, i searched, but read where most HHRs are XM ready.

i don't have a CAT button on my 06 HHR LS.

i have a plug-in on the face of the headunit.

i bought one of those smaller XM units from Wal-Mart and ran all the wiring and when i use it i have to turn the volume all the way up to 25-30 to hear it.

i usually listen at about 15-20 on regular stations.

anyone else have this problem?

anything i can do to get better sound out of it?

Xm

DO you have a FM Direct Adapter or just the way it came. I have sirius with the Adapter and it sounds very nice. Like the color as you can see

Should be a volume control in the XM units menu.

Since the mini-jack is not amplified, yes, you have to crank up the volume. That is why I got the PAL adaptor for my iPod.

Yep, exactly as you described. Got the Xpress at walmart and mounted it in the dash top glovebox. I've twisted and turned the unit to try and get away from some static and reception issues, never satisfied with the clarity.

Had to turn radio volume way up, didn't matter what level the xm modulator was set at or where xm antenna was put.

Monday I'm grabbing the Roady out of my tooltruck and will see how it works in my hhr, try to see if it is unit or car. Will let you know.

It was the unit. Bought an ancient "Roady" unit off ebay and it works like it should - no static and normal volume settings. Now for the rant...

XM tech services SUCK!!! They farm it out to overseas, and three separate people told me I had to run an auxiliary wire from the stock antenna to the XM unit - that woulda looked just great.

When you call to cancel the radio however, you get a good old American - who was more help than anyone in diagnosing the problem and getting me contact info for Audiovox.

Love XM - hate tech support

Peace

Great, glad it was a simple solution. Just an FYI, I just bought a Delphi SkyFi2 from XM. They are running a $19.95 special through the holidays! So I'll transfer my subscription from the HHR to the SkyFi and use it in the office. :)
