Rear Control Arm Bushings

Hey guys just wanted to show you what I came across when I put in my springs a while back. I noticed a little bit of play in my driver side control arm when I took the strut off.

So I took the control arms out and popped the bushings out:

This was the driver side. The inner part just fell out when I took the control arm off the car.

The left one was still in decent shape, but it was the older version with the cutouts so I replaced that one too.

New bushings.

If you have an older HHR '06 I think? They have the old style bushings. I think all the latter have the solid ones. They are pretty hard to inspect in the car so you would need to jack it up and get a light and look close for separation. They were pressed into the control arms super duper tight. You will either need a press or...I used a 4lb sledge and a BMX peg. I work at a bicycle shop and the peg happened to be the same OD so I pounded them out/in in a few minutes.

Ya thats a pretty common fail point. What did you replace them with? Powell makes some that are much better than stock.

I just used Moog bushings. They were only $35 for the set. The Powell bushings are $200. If I have any more issues I will get those. Just figured these Moog bushings are already a slight upgrade compared to what was in there.

At NAPA and most other places I've seen they only run $13 each, that's the solid ones. I think that the solids are a "generic" part and the relieved ones are "GM OEM".
