Decent mileage
I had to make the round trip drive this weekend from Murfreesboro to Memphis and back. It's about 525 miles. I decided to slow things down a little to check the mileage. It made a difference. I started on a full tank and reset the mileage calculator. When the trip was done, I still had a little gas left in the tank. I averaged 33.9 mpgs. When I did the same trip in the past at 70, I couldn't go round trip on one tank. Big difference. So if you have the patience, slow down a little...

That does make a differance. I went to middle GA for a wedding not long ago and while on the interstate I was averaging 28.9 with the cruise set at 72 (70mph limit). WHen I got off the interstate and reset the DIC it bounced between 37-38 with the cruise set at 58 (55 limit).
I notice it all the time if I run under 70 I get better mileage. Unfortunately if you run under 70 locally on the interstate, and especially on I95 you might not survive the trip. I have refueled before and saw 545 miles/empty before. |
I've found that by doing the speed limit on my trips to AL (70) instead of the 75 I used to travel, I increase my MPG to nearly 34.
BTW -- Howdy, neighbor! La Vergne, here. I've added you to the TN Members Map. Be sure to watch the postings for the Gatlinburg Meet in April 2009! |
