Lower Grille
 

Thank God i have a lower grille. On Friday morning cruisin down my favorite fwy (57). A car in front of me ran over a piece of wood ( 1 x 2 x 18in) which shot right at my car, I heard a bang as hit my car. And went oh sh:red:t!!!. So i pulled off the fwy and found the piece of wood, lodge in the lower opening for the grille.Needless to say if i didn't have a lower grille it would have went right into the radiator. So yes lower grilles do more the just look pretty.

Great luck Tracy! So glad it held, that could have wiped out the lower grille, the radiator, and AC condensor(?) Any paint missing? Todd (Uma)

Good to hear you were lucky, & even if you had the '08 & later GM cheep-0 plastic covering, doubt it would have protected the condenser, $800..

Glad you are ok, Trac'! I got the grill for looks but for that reason too -- You know, I drive the 57 out to Claremont every day now and am lucky to be going against traffic to/from OC, but have seen some pretty hairy accidents.

I'm still trying to figure out how an F150 going West ended up upside down on my side of the freeway (East) :eek: (people were ok, but that cab was pretty crushed).

I put one on mine just for that reason. I bought a second Lund horizontal framed grill and trimmed to down to fit the bottom opening. They have been discontinued now and i had a heck of a time finding them. finally called Lund and got two of the last four they had. here is a link to some pics.

The "Collier Grille" worked perfect:thumb:, got home took out the grille reformed it back to its original form. No paint lost, couple scracthes but rubbed those out. So back on the road again.

I like that better than the billit grillI bought, too bad not available today or I would change mine.

Good lookin grille! I'd hate to see that used as a shield, but that's what they are meant to do.
