2008 HHR SS anti freeze in oil pan
The motor might be salvageable if you park it immediately.
There are several ways coolant can get into the oil and vice versa. Sometimes it’s an easy fix, but figuring out where the problem is can be easy or impossible. GM had a gazillion 3.1L’s with a lower manifold gasket problem, so easy to diagnose, not so easy to fix. (There was a class action settlement that was a raw deal for owners, but that’s another story.) It was a “wet” gasket and when I found emulsion sludge in both the oil and coolant I immediately fixed the gaskets and flushed the fluids, and the motor was awesome thereafter.
You definitely want to preserve your motor’s value as a core in case you want to buy a rebuilt motor (or the next owner.)
