2009 Chevrolet HHR SS Struts Question

I'm back with another question for all of the polite members of the community, this time regarding struts.
I'm confused as to the difference in price between these Strut Assembly on Rock Auto and the rest of the Struts available which cost more. (The ones suggested in the common parts thread are more expensive and appear to be less parts than the assembly.)

The ones you show from Rock Auto are not FE5 struts. (the SS performance struts your car came with). In fact, they are probably just FE1, FE3 struts for the regular HHR's and look like they might just be a collision replacement part.

Also. Don't think any company is selling any true FE5 quick strut assemblies.

Aha, of course it makes sense that performance parts cost more. It just confused me when I put the FE5 struts in my cart, each one of them suggested underneath it that they offer strut assemblies to cut down on installation time. It does look easy, since it looks like the spring and everything is included there.

And that is why only GM and AC DELCO are the only part numbers listed for the SS models in our parts list. It's unfortunate that there are so few choices for them.

Right. Thanks.

Don't waste your money on the EBay type claims that they are FE5, they might bolt up but won't preform correctly

FYI. Those AC Delco parts numbers you listed in your 1st post. They show up on Rock Auto's site.
Those are the FE5 struts (strut only). About $100 a side.

SS Front Struts

FYI - I was able to find the GM (AC Delco) OEM FE5 struts on Amazon for less than $100 per strut including free shipping with Amazon Prime. I haven't installed them yet, but they sure do look nice sitting in their boxes!
