There are a couple of commonish things "airbag light" in the search should give a few connector locations to look at.
Otherwise, a scantool capable of reading airbags is the ONLY real way.

A few years back, you probably could have taken it to your local Autoparts store to have them scan it, but nowdays, you may HAVE to go to a dealer. Most Autoparts stores won't scan for ABS or Airbag codes anymore.

well, the light turned off on it's own. must be acting up due to the severe cold , -4 right now in Chicago. funny, the day the light turns on is the same day I get a letter in the mail from chevy that says they will replace an airbag harness connector due to fretting corrosion on the terminals.
