Bad Turbo?

Just picked up an 08 SS...I think the turbo is bad...White smoke on idle after warming up... Lots of white smoke upon deceleration especially under boost...Very little to no smoke while driving the car without boost...The car runs fine no misfires...Head gaskets and timing chain, tensioners, etc. recently done...No antifreeze smell or water out of tailpipe other than start up condensation...No oil or soot out of tailpipe......Anti freeze looks clean...Oil looks clean...Thoughts? Thanks...

You mentioned in your other post about Chinese turbos you thought your turbo was toast.
Here’s a company that rebuilds turbos

2008-2010 Chevrolet HHR SS - Chevrolet - -OEM Replacement Turbochargers

And this company

2008 -2010 Chevy Cobalt / HHR Rebuilt OEM Turbocharger 53049700059 / 12618667 - XSBoost Turbochargers

Somebody might have a used turbo in this site

The only thing that makes white smoke is water. What about coolant level, look under the pressure cap and the bottle.?

Coolant is full...No anti freeze smell out of tailpipe...Does the turbo have a coolant line going to it?

That doesn't matter if you checked both under the pressure cap and the bottle.

Hopefully one of the turbo guys will pop in and say I'm wrong.

I am always weary about used cars with alot of recently replaced parts. People dont replace parts for fun or out of the goodness of their heart; the previous owner was chasing a problem and when he couldn't solve it he sold that problem to you.

There is only 3 things that make smoke. You can measure the oil loss, blue smoke. You can measure the coolant loss, white smoke. You can tell fuel, black smoke and usually a code for rich a/f mixture and/or failing catalytic converter.

You have not mentioned any CheckEngineLight or DTC or boost problems.

Yes, both coolant and oil go through the turbo and the oil cooler. As far as I know from reading.
