Brake Bleeding Procedure
 

I visited my library today to look up the Mitchell's Manual for the Brembo brake bleeding procedure. It says to bleed the brakes in this order:

1. Right rear
2. Left front (Brembo inboard bleeder followed by outboard)
3. Left rear
4. Right front (Brembo inboard bleeder followed by outboard)

This doesn't make sense to me.
All the brake bleeding I've done over the years, I've always done it "farthest from the master to the closest." That is...

1. Right rear
2. Left rear
3. Right front
4. Left front

Can anyone confirm what the proper sequence should be? Is the Mitchell's Manual wrong?

It is because the MC is split different from the 20th century.

That procedure is farthest first.

So you're saying to follow the Mitchell's sequence?

Even though we dinosaurs have been using the old version until somebody bothered to read the new docs and corrected us.

Well thanks guys, I learned sumthin' new today.

And to add. You really should use a brake pressure bleeder if your car has antilock brakes.

So if I leave the rear calipers alone and do a front caliper swap from non-Brembo to Brembo, I have to bleed the rears in sequence with the fronts? That doesn't seem to make sense to me, but perhaps there's more than meets the eye. Perhaps the rears will be affected by the fronts being opened. Therefore, I'll just play it safe and do them in order.

The MC is split diagonally NOT F/R like 20th century with no ABS and Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control.

So, yes opening the front left means bleeding the rear right.
