They put in the strut only. All the other components was swamped to new strut.
I notice more road noise from the rear over the front now? It sounds like one of the back doors isnt closed all the way.
Im going to call KYB on Monday.

The only ones I could ever find for the SS were the OEM struts. KYB is good stuff, but you probably got FE3 level.

I have a pair of rear FE5 shocks still in the box in my garage, but no fronts... One of these days I will actually sell my junk. I have all kinds of Subaru stuff out there, too...

You are correct that we do not offer replacement front struts for the HHR SS. The part numbers you have given are probably part numbers from your distributor, our part numbers are 339085 for the left and 339084 for the right, but these part numbers are for the HHR with standard suspension.It is possible that fitment is similar to the strut for your vehicle and that is why CarMax installed them, but yes, they would likely not match the performance of the factory struts for this vehicle, which is why we don’t catalog these parts for the HHR SS.

The service manager at Carmax did some research of his own and agreed I was correct that the KYB should not be installed and would be replacing with OEM GM struts.

I marked both left and right struts currently installed in case they try to pull a fast one.
