Just switch to a dry filter anyways. They are way better for MAF controlled vehicles

I read the whole page on the CobaltSS page. Crazy if doing THAT will fix the CEL issue.
What brand would you guys say is better anyways, K&N or these ZZP ones?

the zzp one has a k&n......the k&n intake for the hhr ss itself is just a redesigned inlet pipe with a k&n filter....a waste of 300 bucks imo

im sure the zzp intake will gain is popularity (not that it doesn't have a fan base as is) as time goes on. we just have not had anything till now

HaHa,
I'll keep the 15hp that the 'fresh' air K&N intake system gives me, for $241,
until ZZP puts up some numbers againest it, or until you guys prove that your, new, not the 1st, 'hot' air system does indeed work. LOL
The ZZP system does looks way better, than the stock ****box, that looks like a big 'wart' on top of our engines.

you need a custom tune. the zzp upgraded intake setup is bringing in so much extra air that the maf is freaking out and throwing off your fuel trims & the ecu.

LNF + legit aftermarket intake = it's gonna freak out. find someone with HPTuners and get the MAF dialed in.

i thought we've gone over this with JUST a k&n filter in the stock air box?

Thanks Rally. I only installed it b/c I understood from ZZP that no tune was needed for it. I plan on doing HPTuners as soon as I can afford to purchase the software. I don't know of anyone around here that has it...actually I don't know of anyone around me that has an HHR SS and is doing any kind of modding.

I'm figuring its going to be end of April before I can pick up the HPTuners Suite. Other than being a PITA, would running this without dialing in the MAF have any long term detrimental effects on the car?

i believe one of the better LNF tuners is located in Jacksonville, Terminator2 from cobaltss.net, you should definitely hit him up for a tune if you can swing it.

it won't hurt anything long term but your car will always be acting up because of it. i'd recommend putting the stock intake setup back on until you can get tuned and dial in the MAF for the upgraded intake.

Not just the filter, K&N air system kit has an intake tube also.
The K&N kit does cause the MAF to be off 5-8% also.

yes i know. i owned one for all of 2 weeks and sold it. didn't notice enough difference over JUST a k&n filter in the stock setup.

what i was saying was that even with JUST a k&n filter the MAF goes nuts.

oh and let's not forget that K&N intake kit includes a sweet lightweight air box lid.
