CEL after ZZP Intake Install
[QUOTE=ATLsilverSS;629572]you have to "clock" the filter...the seam needs to be "clocked" at xxxx o'clock to minimize fuel trim differences[QUOTE]
Alright. Just clocked the filter. Checked the MAF and it's good. Cleared the CEL by disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Upon restart, it runs like absolute poo. Horrible idle and almost stalling. At least before I did this, it ran fine other than being in limp mode part of time.
Anyone have any ideas?

If I'm understanding this correctly, you are getting too much air for the maf to calculate or whatever. You will have to restrict the air somehow if your not going to tune it. Try a smaller filter.
A tune would be real nice. Wish I had someone with HPTuners local that could help me out with calibrating the MAF.
Either way, I was going to reinstall the stock air box, but it seems I must have left part of the intake tube (behind the box down to the turbo) at my buddies garage. In Georgia. FML

I rotated the filter back to the original position it was in. After undoing the negative terminal and letting it run for a few minutes, the idle seems to have smoothed out again for the time being.
So, as far as I can tell, "clocking" the filter made a bigger issue instead of resolving the first. I am on the horn with ZZP to see what they have to say and also if an AEM filter will work for the application (just to remove the oiled mess).

I had trouble when I installed the Dejon Short Ram Intake on my SS throwing CEL, and it was MAF sensor related. I ended up buying an "air flow straightener" from Treadstones website, installed it and havent had a bit of trouble with it since(been almost 3 weeks and about 800 miles). Cost me like $30 shipped and had it in 2 days. It looks like a honey comb, slides into the intake tube before the MAF.

At the end of the day, I can drive back to GA this weekend and pick up the old intake tube and just reinstall the stock airbox until I get tuned. Hopefully, I don't have to do that though.
