That is a fairly popular item here - there are a number of good posts/threads on how to do it, along with the cautions one must take.

Just punch in "cleaning throttle body" in the search tool at the top center of the page and check out the info..

Andyb cleaning the TB is a spring and fall prep ritual for me, I disconnect the battery, unbolt the TB, use TB cleaner and just spray both sides, I do not move the butterfly while I have the TB off of the intake, I check the wire harness for loose pins , bolt it back together .
I then use MAF sensor spray to clean the MAF , check that connector , then reassemble.
192,000 miles and no issues
Be aware that the little plastic gears inside the TB can break if you move the butterfly manually! That's why I don't touch it.

I can't believe how many people are forcing open the electric t-body's!! what I've done on other cars is turn the key on - do not start the engine - have someone step on the gas - gasp - the t-body opens & you can have at it cleaning it! only reason I asked about this car is that it's impossible to even see the t-body, so, I was asking if there are any tricks to get to it - from on top or from under car?

Four bolts from the top, after you wrestle off the air cleaner box

Angry

how the heck do you get to the t-body? I removed the black plastic shield by the hood latch & now I can see the t-body & the clamp for the duct, but can't get to it - from under the car & I can barely see the t-body & my hand wont fit up there. from on top - the a/c pipe is in the way.

Your profile shows you have a 2001 Blazer Extreme !
Are you speaking of an HHR or HHR SS

I haven't done it yet, because of the location, you have to pull the front end apart, especially the auto. Figured I would wait for the code and than replace it with a new one....maybe next time I'm in there putting headlights together.

That's the difference, the SS tbody is well buried back there.
I have an LS so the tbody is up front
