Code P2187 on '09 SS auto
Morning guys! Haven't posted here in a while. I have a CEL that popped up over the weekend while I was on the highway. I'm leaning towards a vacuum leak since, at start up, I can hear the vacuum tank 'surging'. As of now the car drives ok but I can tell it's a little down on power, it doesn't boost past 10lbs. Anyone have an idea how easy/hard it would be to fix this myself?

Hmmm. No. Without knowing exactly what is wrong and what work needs to be done, it's hard to say. Plus, we don't know what your skill level is as far as doing this kind of work.

I know what you mean firemangeorge. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but of course this is the internet and without seeing or hearing what the problem is, an 'online diagnosis' is difficult. I was hoping someone may have had a similar issue and could point me in the right direction.

Did you have a cruise through the other posts here regarding the P2187 code -System Too Lean at Idle (Bank 1) - (easy to find with the Search tool at the top of the page - just enter "P2187" without the quotes)? There are a few worthy of reading - and one member pointed out the following possible causes: "dirty MAF, too much oil on intake filter, bad gasket, vac leak after the MAF, Intake solenoid, fuel filter". It can even be a bad fitting gas cap.

Thanks Whopper. I'm at work so I'll give them a read-through tonight.

Just updating this post: I cleaned the MAF sensor last night and voila! The CEL's gone and I was able to hit 24psi on a good highway hit. I'm just glad it was an easy fix. Thanks for the help and suggestions Whopper and firemangeorge. :twothumbs:
