Unhappy Engine overheating

I have a 2008 HHR SS with 130,000 plus miles! the temp will rise while at idle or in traffic. It will come back to normal or close to it at higher speeds. I have noticed that the cooling fan does not come on. I can supply 12 volts to the fan and it runs ,I took the module to the dealer to replace it and was told they are not stocked and have never sold one nor has any one else, He says they never fail. I looked up a wiring diagram online and it shows a relay which I can't locate in the fuse box in my HHR? The service dept says a temp sensor (ECT) or computer. I also can't find the temp sensor. I Need Help!!!!!

Does the fan come on if you hit the air conditioning?

I took the fan module to the dealer and was told they don't stock it, have never sold one and don't show it in inventory. The other dealer in town says they have only sold one. Both say it is not the fan module........Do I believe them?????

I guess the first question I would ask......

How did the parts desk guys (assuming, you did not say specifically) know it was not the fan module? Did they test it....or was it an assumption on their part, based on sales experience?

Cooling fan always runs on an SS, just at different speeds. What temp is it going up to at stops?

Yep bad fan or module. Had mine replaced along with the radiator at 56,000 miles. Fan failed caused car to oh and crack the radiator.
