Tick from engine compartment when cold

When the engine is cold and my SS is in gear, under load I'm getting a "squeaky tick" that is directly proportional to engine and/or clutch flywheel rotation speed. As soon as the engine and trans are warm the sound goes away and doesn't return until the car has cooled off for 2-4 hours. Fully stock with 5-speed manual transmission... Any thoughts!? Exhaust leak, lifter noise, BOV spring, turbocharger issue, turbo piping leak!?

Have any of you experienced something similar?

Thanks

More than likely you are hearing pressurization of fuel system

They offer a cover for it if bothers you

The Direct Injection pump make a ticking sound on the SS and the CTS.

Also before youy notice the Tubo will smole a little out the tail pipe too. You also will get shoot in the exhaust outlet. These are common to the new DI system.

New DI has a few different things about it that may sound or look like an issue but really are normal.

Thanks guys. So just to make sure here, this is normal and goes away when the engine has warmed up (fuel system is at full pressure). The funny thing is that I just started noticing this particular noise recently. I'm almost at 100k, and the expiring warranty may have me jumpy. BTW, the only issue I've had with my SS so far (100k) is a bad wheel hub @ 92k that was covered under the 10/100,000 warranty.

At your mileage, you cannot blindly accept an internet diagnosis from people who have not heard your noise. just sayin'

Agree.

If you're concerned, take it in and have them create a warranty ticket. Even if nothing was found by the technician, it's documented that it was in during the warranty period in case more becomes of such issue at a later date .

I agree with them. I was not awake when I read this and there are many other things it could be. I did not notice the date you joined I just saw a low number of post and made the mistake to assume you were new to this.

With that many miles it could be a number of things some simple some not. I would also recomend getting it checked out.
