Idle Wild

This may not be a problem so to speak, but I wanted to check with other SS owners... Does yours idle really high when you first start it? When I first start it up in the morning, it idles for about 45 seconds to a minute at about 1500 rpms before dropping down to about 400/500 rpms before I take off. Is it just the nature of the beast??

Its normal its the cat warm up cycle. Its verhy strongly advised not to drive the car dutring that time because it will run like poop

Thanks guys. I always let it idle down before take off. Btw, I'm a dumba** and just recently started using premium gas in mine.....wow, clear difference in how it runs and HP.

For kicks, look at the fuel pressure next time you do a cold start.Mine is around 1700psi ! Then it slowly lowers as the car warms up. That must be one badass little pump!

Agreed! Fuel pressure at idle goes from 600-900 psi. I'd love to see a mechanical gauge try to keep up with our fuel pressures lol.
