Intermediate steering shaft
Hello, I took my newly-purchased '08 SS into the shop for state inspection and other various fixes a few days ago, and during a test drive, the mechanic noticed a clunking/clicking sound whenever the steering wheel is turned. After taking everything apart, he found that one of the u-joints on the intermediate steering shaft (GM part number 25943354) is about to fail and come apart. He ordered a replacement for a 2.2L non-SS, which wouldn't fit. He couldn't find a matching part for an SS that's in stock, and even contacted a bunch of manufacturers. I'm at a loss here. Would anyone be able to find the part, or would anyone happen to have one, or know where to look for one? Thanks

Unfortunately 25943354 is an obsolete part .
I’ve wondered if a ujoint could be purchased from flaming river or Ididit or borgensen to replace the damaged worn out joint https://www.ididit.com/c-1310161-acc...-shafting.html |
I found this from 2021, worth a shot

Gave them a call. They don’t have one. My mechanic checked a bunch of local junkyards as well, same story.
I really don’t want to sell my car to a junkyard over this one small part, but I don’t know if I have a choice. |
Contact borgenson or ididit. Ask about replacing the u joints.
I’m researching this problem there has to be a way to repair. Is yours the upper joint or the lower joint? |

They don't look like they can catastrophically fail, just make noise and be sloppy. It is not going to explode and leave you with no steering.
A machine shop could probably rebuild the bearings. Auto mechanics have forgotten how to repair U-joints, much easier to replace, as long as they are available. Might try looking for like models Saab 9-5, etc. |
