I’ve called every wrecking yard within a 200 mile radius and they have a few hhrs but no ss...Got some window switches and window motors wasn’t much else I could pick off of them. Is there anything besides the tune up that has already been done that I should be focusing on for longevity? Ive read something about timing chains causing catastrophic problems which is a bit out of my wheel house but I’m sure I could tackle it...the engine and tranny seem to be really strong which isn’t Surprising since it was senior citizen owned. Ive put 1000 miles on it so far and I just don’t know if I should just get it running well put a down pipe and a tune and then save for a new engine or if it’d be safe to start building on this one. The reason I wanted this hhr is because I know no one around here in south Louisiana will respect it so I want to throw down about 400 to the tires and make them cringe when I gap the piss out of them. I just don’t know if I should spend the time doing that to this engine sitting at 138xxx even though I’m pretty confident it wasn’t dogged out. I’m almost positive most of the problems I’m experiencing are from the terrain it was driven on before I got it

At that mileage, I’d replace the timing and balance shaft chains, don’t go EBay cheap , here’s a how to .
Its not that hard, and we are here to assist, and show you how to do the job.

Update
switched coils around still has a misfire in cylinder 2 so I changed the plug and so far so good. I found that the hose clamp on ic piping from intake to turbo was loose I tightened it still having boost issues so I checked the boost control valve and it allows air to flow through it to the left vacuum hose so I’m assuming that means it’s good. I’m at a loss...bought a new air filter (paper) got a hose in place from air box to fender...I don’t think it’s a boost leak because sometimes I get normal boost(most of the time I don’t). The only other thing I can see is I think the guy bought a cheaper maf instead of the ac delco could that be causing my issues?
