Question Only 2 clips for the SS air box?

I removed my SS air filter box for some cleaning and noticed there were clips only on the front two posts. Ok, maybe I lost the rear DS clip. When I called the dealer they said it only shows two being used on the front posts. Nothing on the rear. I noticed a reference to four in some other threads but mine only had three posts.

Any particular reason? I was thinking maybe it's for noise and vibration when the engine moves front to back.

The rear grommet was pretty split and dried out so I ordered three new ones and an extra clip but I am not sure I should put that clip on. I guess I could and not worry about it. Those grommets sure don't like the heat.

Thanks! I think there is no rear clip to let the box move some. I might put it on and see what happens but I'm not too worried about it. The new grommets will be here today.

Thumbs up

I get why there is only two clips. The rear stud is taller than the front. The clip would be up at the top and not really do anything. If the rear of the box rose enough to hit the clip it it would be ready to come off the engine. I put the clip on but more as storage than anything.

I am surprised how deteriorated the grommets were but for $3.50 each I bought extras and tossed them in the "kit." I have 60k on my SS if that gives you a reference point. A dab of Vaseline(tm) on the posts makes the grommets easier to push over the posts.
