Input speed sensor

Hi. New here. Have owned my 2008 HHR SS since new. Input speed sensor. Is this an easy thing to replace? I already purchased the part. From the drawing I have found, it appears to be right under the transmission cover. Is that correct? My mechanic (not the dealer) is concerned because he doesn't do transmission work.. but from what I see, it is just remove cover, replace sensor, put cover back on. Correct or am I thinking wrong? Thanks for your help.

Do yourself a favor and do some testing first. Could be just a loose connection or frayed wire.

I appreciate the response. I have the part in hand already. The P0722 code came up. I just need clarification of where exactly the part is located and what is involved in changing it out.

I am trying to say that coild of wire rarely go bad, more likely a wire is loose. The testing described would tell.
