Quick Question

Hi, I will be very grateful if someone can help me identify this part. The small metal hose attached to the engine below is loose due the air cleaner house not properly attached. Its setting off the P0299 code. Managed to reattach it but it keeps coming off. The image is for the 2009 SS but mine is the 2008 and I assume its the same. Thanks!

That's not a stock setup.

That photo appears to be the K&N cold air set up , similar to this ZZP set up. Looks like possible air leaks along the metal pipe to hose connections

It would be better to post a picture of your own vehicle. But I would guess not the cause of your underboost problem. That's the inlet for the PCV system, allows metered air into the crankcase. A loose fitting would give inaccurate information to the ECM. It would likely set some other codes. Is that the only code?

P0299 is often caused by the bypass valve system. Vacuum leak(hose, vacuum tank) or a bad bypass valve or solenoid.

Many people who want this cold air intake (actually a warm air intake) think it would be cool to install a blow off valve, and that causes problems if not done correctly.

Not properly attached where? There are two adjacent connectors there. Do post a pic. Of your car. Showing the disconnection.

The pic you posted is of a modified car and the air cleaner housing has been deleted.

Thanks for replying. Will post a pic. The hose is similar to this one and its attached to the engine. The CEL code appeared before and upon inspection I noticed that the end that is attached to the engine came off. I reattached it and the code it away. But the air cleaner housing is not well secured and so it keeps coming off. Now it doesn't hold securely. Used one of those metal tapes to secure it but I know it will come off again. BTW my SS is stock.

A bit tough to get a good pic. The top side of the hose is attached to the air cleaner hose.

The highlighted part is attached to the air cleaner hose.

Note here

The possible solutions lists check for loose hoses . So you need to secure that hose and fitting
