recall = a whole lot more

So, I took my SS in for the ignition recall and normally they can just reprogram the keys and everything else. Not for me though.. the electronic anti theft locked the dealership out and they have no idea why they can't reprogram it and no idea when it will be fixed.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Nope never heard this on...wonder if it need a new battery, they do weird stuff when the battery is weak, just a guess.......:propeller:

Could be that, they have had it for two days now and still no clue on their end. Didn't know if anyone else had this happen so I might get a better idea as to a time line on the mystery repair

Them GM fellas can be a little slow at times...it took them 3 days and two tries to get my gmtu installed...but it's still working 4 years later....:thumb:

If I turn off the Trifecta tune.....:D

How may new key have you had re programmed? There is a limit.

None that I know of, although I did but it used. Wouldn't the new ignition reset the "key counter" if you will? Or is that a computer thing..

No. It's the chip in the column. I was under the impression it's part of the column, but some say it is replaceable.

Thing is the job doesn't pay much, so the "FNG" (new guy) gets the job. He may have never done anything like it before and he's rushing to get another ticket in. etc. etc.

Not exactly sloppy work, but......

Thanks guys, I'll let you know the issue when I finally get it back; 5 days and counting :-)

The anti theft module was apparently over loaded. Had to pay them 280 bucks for the repair even though I followed their instructions on trying to program the key they gave me. So needless to say pretty disappointed with the dealership and lack of taking responsibility

Interesting. Could you explain what you mean by the module was "over loaded" ?

Never heard that term used for this kind of problem.
