Shifter cables

Once again they must have snapped. I wasnt even having fun. Changing from 2nd to 5th at around 35mph and pop. I normally skip 3-4 in the city, but wth. This isnt the first time this has happend? Does changing gears like that cause that much stress?
Tow truck is getting it, but I was just starting to enjoy the problemless months. Anyone else have this problem. Ive seen on cobalt forums it happens often.

5th gear at 35mph? That rpm range it's got to be "lugging". Anything under 50 and I'm downshifting.

Was getting on highway and mine doesn't"lug". It sits around 1500rpms. And the dic shows i get better mpg as well as I'm not shifting that much. But i guess ill stop being lazy lol. Bout to go get the rental, so im not too upset. I do have to say I am glad I got the GMPP. Free towing and rental. :) this is my.. 5th rental i think. But then again, I use my SS as a daily as well as a fun toy. Guess I should see if anyone has stronger cables as I'm nearing the end of my warranty.

Lack of lube most likely...cables dont care what gear your going into..the load is on the gear. Now , if you like to slam shift this may place a bit of long term strain on them....

Very displeased. Got it back and its a new part number. Doesnt have same spots as old, cant use 1st or second gear very easy as i could and in 5th all i smell is burning clutch as well as its not above reverse anymore. Im very upset, they need to replace my clutch now i bet. And i wont pay since either the new shifter was installed incorrectly or it doesnt match up with my car. Either way will be back tomorrow at the shop cause its still broken.

Cables just need adjusted, especially if installing new ones. Simple fix.

I'm not getting the burning clutch smell. If you just had the shifter cable(s) replaced, it shouldn't effect the clutch engagement.
Either the tech royally screwed something up or that burning smell could be something else.
Keep us posted on what you find out.

As an afterthought. I hope they didn't somehow install non-SS shifter cables in your car.
