Maybe? Of course, you are! Legendary in these parts... (pun intended)

Actually, it's more amazing that you are working with Americans, and not some off-shore technical support person. Federal Mogul is doing some things right, anyway.

This is a worthy mission.

I had to get GM parts for the LCA, because Summit and Autozone both had the wrong ones. I chewed up some tires while it shuddered and shook for a week or so, too...

This is my reply:

Thank you for that.
There seems to be many inaccuracies in the part numbers for HHR and especially HHR SS.
Do they still publish a book of specific measurements for parts like ball joints? If so, how could I get one.
The only ball joint listed for the HHR SS in any parts book that I have access to is incorrect, I have difficulty believing that no one makes the part.

While you are at changing part numbers be advised that almost all of the parts books list K80252; this is incorrect it is 12 inches long and does not fit correctly. The correct part is K750012, the 10 inch part.

Thank you,
Don

I take that back. All SS cobalts, SC and TC, apparently had the aluminum alloy LCAs. I don't know what the deal is with these.

There may be no difference between steel and cast aluminum. I don't know!

Ok, so Moog K80567 does not work on SS ??? They still llist it as FE5 for Cobalt. They list nothing for HHR SS.

You are correct, that is what this thread is all about. There are NO replacement ball joints listed for HHR SS. The only way is to buy Genuine GM complete control arms. and sometimes GM will try to give you the wrong part.

From our common parts thread (https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/comm...-thread-48833/)
- GM - P/N: 25930724 - Right
- GM - P/N: 25930725 - Left

See post #4, there are 2 FE5 suspensions. No balljoints for our larger stud FE5 have been found.

Let’s be clear, RJ, there are two versions of the FE5 Suspension for the Cobalts, but just one version for our HHR SS’s !

For whatever reason you think your saving money just replacing ball joints, or ordering Cobalt parts, think again , get the real McCoy’s , the Genuine GM lower control arms.
