What is the approx normal operating temp for a 2.0 in 90-100* summer heat?

Hockeylegend117 09-14-2011 09:58 PM

mine normally runs in the low 200s in the texas heat

Chillydip 09-14-2011 10:01 PM

Thanks Legend. I thought mine might be running warm at low 200's. Guess its normal.

Hockeylegend117 09-14-2011 10:10 PM

yea on a cool morning its in the high 100s and low 200s in the 120 degree weather we get, depends on how you drive and the driving conditions

the thermostat will open at around 195 degrees so the temperature of the engine should be around that too so low 200s and upper 190s is normal. when i put my foot in it for a while mine will get up to about 210 or so

When I drove to Calif. at the end of June it was about a 110 degrees out and while going over the grapevine my temp went as high as 226 degrees, thats a ton from what it normally runs here, I dont think I've seen it hit 200

Rainman: Going up the "Vine" would build a little more heat than we normally see in the engine. Thats a pretty steep grade and quite long. I think 226 would be about right, and nothing to worry about. Probably droped on the downside pretty quick, I would imagine. "Moon"

Ditto here, driving through the mountain passes here, it goes like 215-219, then back down to 199-203 almost immediately after a crest.
