Temp issues
After searching other threads here it seems my SS is running hot. I regularly see mid 230s to high 240s even up in to the 250s, causing a temp light, during the day here in Az. The coolant level seems to be fine. Anything else I should check? What do you guys think of water wetter or purple ice?
Not SS specific, but open your "radiator cap" and make sure you have fluid in the pipeline, not just the overflow tank. Could be you got a wrong "radiator" cap a "surge tank" cap is not interchangeable. Anything over 240F in an 2.2L, at least is asking for a new engine. Test for head gasket. Test for the rare blocked t-stat.
Outside temp is 110-115ish. It didn't run hot before summer hit unless I was pushing it hard from stop light to stop light for long drives. I suppose it could be a thermostat but the car only has 34K on it. The caps are correct and there's fluid in the hose & overflow. Also, the fan is running on high, as a matter of fact I've been asked a few times now if I'm going to shut the engine off when it was already off....guess the fan is kinda loud, lol.
BTW, it only fluctuates a lot with stop & go driving, if I set the cruise @ 75 on the freeway it sits at about 225 until I go to pass someone, problem is traffic in Az is all stop & go during rush hour.

Stay away from "Water Wetter" and "Purple Ice", Dexcool does not play well with other chemical compounds, it can gel or become highly corrosive.
As stated above, check your coolant level with the engine cold, pop the radiator cap with the engine cold an look for coolant....remember ENGINE COLD.
I'd suspect you're low on coolant, or maybe dealing with an already blown head gasket.

Yes, your's is running hot. I also have a 2010 SS and the temp stays in the 187-194 range under normal driving conditions. This is also the same temp range when it is up to 95 degrees outside.
Water wetter or purple ice? Don't need it. Just get yours fixed and your temps will be plenty cool enough. No need for an additive.
You didn't state the mileage so first things first. Check the coolant level as stated above. If it's OK, then best bet is to pull the thermostat and replace. Also make sure the cooling fan is operating. Should come on at about 210(if I remember correctly. Mine has never come on because of temp)
Anthing further may need a good repair shop diagnosis.
DUH! I wasn't thinking. Should be a warranty covered issue. Take it to the dealer.
